FindSymbol

This end point has been deprecated and will be removed from a future version of PXWeb. Please use the SymbolSearch end point for new development.

This operation provides the facility to find the symbols that contain a given string in the description.

Parameter	Value
UserID*
Password*		Password is case sensitive.

Category*		Exact identifier of the category where symbols should be searched for.
SearchType		A code "K" to do a search by keyword or "S" to look for an specific symbol. Default value is K.
SearchString		String to look for as specified by the SearchType parameter. This parameter is case insensitive.
Limit		Limit on the number of symbols to return. Since default value is 5,000 a larger value needs to be explicitly set to obtain the full list of symbols of a given category.
Format		Optional parameter to request the result in an specific format. Default value is XML.

The following needs to be considered when searching for symbols:

The exact category name or abbreviation must be entered.
Some categories have more than 100,000 symbols so it is important to pass a large value in the Limit parameter if the intention is to request the full list of symbols.
